Pluralism Cards:
Questions for Connecting
A new tool to help people think, share and engage in conversation about differences, belonging, inclusion and other related concepts.

Pluralism Cards: Questions for Connecting is based on research and practice in the field of pluralism by the Centre. These questions leverage the expertise of pluralism practitioners who have spent their careers listening to and building bridges with people different from themselves. The skills involved in engaging across difference – such as curiosity, active listening, empathy, understanding, humility and openness to learning – like any skills, can be strengthened with practice.
The cards serve as open-ended prompts or conversation starters and can be used in a variety of settings. The experience of engaging through these questions can open the door to interesting and unexpected conversations and reflection among colleagues, friends, family, and more.
The questions have been grouped in three categories based on complexity and type of reflection required. Category 1 questions are designed to open the discussion with topics that are approachable and suitable for a wide variety or groups and contexts. Categories 2 and 3 get into questions that start to play with the complexity of human connection.
Category 1 :
Introductory Questions on Connecting
Inviting exploration about connection, belonging and inclusion.
Category 2:
Deepening Engagement with Difference
Engaging with concepts of exclusion, division and disconnection.
Category 3:
Welcoming Complexity
Inspiring deeper levels of reflection on our place in a diverse world.
