In Memoriam – Kofi Annan (1938-2018)
The Chair, Directors of the Board and staff of the Global Centre for Pluralism are deeply saddened at the death of Kofi Annan who, in addition to his many contributions to humanity, was a leading member of the Centre's Board of Directors since its inception in 2010.
"Kofi Annan made an extraordinary contribution to the cause of pluralism in the world" said John McNee, Secretary General of the Centre. "He brought insight, empathy and understanding to promoting respect for others and explaining the dynamics of diverse societies in developing, emerging and industrialized countries."
His landmark 2013 Pluralism Lecture, "Pluralism: A Key Challenge of the 21st Century" delivered in Ottawa, was a defining moment in the life of the Global Centre for Pluralism, an organisation whose direction he substantially helped shape in its formative years.
Wisdom, dedication and humanity defined Kofi Annan. He was an inspiration to us all. He will be deeply mourned and greatly missed.
