Global Pluralism Award Winner from Ghana Advocates for Introducing Greater Diversity into Children’s Literature

Ottawa, ON, June 22, 2021 – Deborah Ahenkorah, children’s book publisher and winner of the 2019 Global Centre for Pluralism Award, will launch the print edition of Bahiya: The Little Zebra, with opening remarks by Canada’s 26th Governor General and Global Centre for Pluralism Board member, The Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, on June 23 from 12 pm to 1 PM EDT. Ahenkorah will be joined by the book’s author, Nahida Esmail of Tanzania, and its illustrator, Randa Abubakr of Egypt, for a conversation about representation in children’s literature worldwide, the de-colonization of the arts, and how their work contributes to building pluralistic societies.
