CANCELLED: Challenges and Opportunities Confronting Tunisia’s Democratic Transition: Reflections by Mr. Rached Ghannouchi

PLEASE NOTE: Due to sudden changes in Mr. Ghannouchi’s travel plans, this event is unfortunately cancelled.

Mr. Rached Ghannouchi, president of the Ennahda Party, will be at the Global Centre for Pluralism on Monday, May 28th 2018, to lead a reflection on the challenges and consequences of the post-Arab Spring democratic transitions.

Tunisia stands out as the most enduring and successful example of the post-Arab Spring democratic transitions. However, the Tunisian transition remains fragile. A struggling economy, increasing polarization and growing dissatisfaction with traditional political elites present challenges, while Tunisia is also situated in an increasingly unstable and complex regional security environment.

The discussion will take place in English and Arabic. Simultaneous interpretation will be available.
