Temporary office

The Global Centre for Pluralism is now located in the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat at 199 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Canada. The Centre will be located at the Delegation on a temporary basis while its permanent facility – the federal heritage building at 330 Sussex Drive – is refurbished and brought back to life.

Building for the future

The heritage building at 330 Sussex Drive, in Ottawa, Canada, will serve as the Centre’s international headquarters.  Built between 1905 and 1926, it has housed two major federal institutions: the Dominion Archives of Canada and the Canadian War Museum.

Both of these institutions, in their own ways, helped Canadians to preserve and understand their history and to share Canada’s story with the world. As an institution proudly inspired by Canada, the Centre will honour and perpetuate this tradition.

As a centre for research and education, as a neutral space for dialogue and exchange, and as a meeting place for diverse peoples seeking common ground, the Centre will serve as a vibrant focal point for pluralism across Canada and around the world.

The building, which has been vacant for several years, requires extensive renovation and rehabilitation – expected to take some years to complete.  When the Centre becomes operational it will occupy temporary premises until the building is ready.
