Call for Public Affairs Volunteers

Do you care about diversity and inclusion? Do you like learning about world issues? Do you like to answer questions about Ottawa and Canada?

We are looking for public affairs volunteers! Help us share the Centre’s history and mission with the public during Canada’s 150th celebrations and gain experience with public speaking, dealing with visitor inquiries and helping at different events.

What does a public affairs volunteer do?

• Assist with the weekly Visitor Program (Wednesday 5:30-7:30pm and Saturday 1:00 – 3:00pm)

• Greet a broad range of guests

• Respond to visitor questions about the building, the Centre and the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat

• Assist with events (speeches, forums, presentations) at the Centre and at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat

Note: This description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Volunteers may be asked to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Who would make a great public affairs volunteer?

Individuals who are: at least 14 years old, organized, friendly-mannered, patient, dependable with problem-solving abilities, have public speaking abilities and a passion for diversity and inclusion! Bilingualism (French/ English) is preferred.

What is the commitment for public affairs volunteers?

Volunteers must complete a 2 day weekend training and volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours per month. (Students will be able to gain your Community Service Hours!)
