The Global Centre for Pluralism is a Canadian charitable organization.  Its governance structure reflects the Funding Agreement signed with the Government of Canada in 2006.

Board of Directors

The Centre will be governed by a Board of Directors, of which His Highness the Aga Khan is the Chairman. Seven Directors must be Canadian citizens. In addition to the Chairman, up to four Directors may be citizens of other countries. To the extent possible, the Board should represent the diversity of Canadian society. Each Director serves for a term of two years without remuneration.  Board appointments are renewable.

Members of the Corporation

A group known as the Members of the Corporation appoints the Board of Directors and fills any vacancies on the Board. It appoints the Centre’s auditors and annually receives the auditor’s report. The Members are as follows:

• The Ismaili Imamat
• Aga Khan Trust for Culture
• Aga Khan Foundation Canada
• The Government of Canada (2 representatives)
• Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada
• International Development Research Centre
